The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (cee.gatech.edu) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA invites applications for up to three tenure-track faculty positions in the areas of Environmental Engineering; Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Materials; and Geosystems Engineering. All degree programs in the School are ranked in the top five US programs, and the Civil Engineering undergraduate program is ranked #1 in the US. Applicants will be considered at all ranks in any of the School’s research areas, with emphases on multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and crosscutting activities. Faculty candidates are sought in multiple areas of Environmental Engineering, with emphases on environmental biotechnology and bioprocess engineering, air pollution and global change, urban systems and sustainability, and environmental public health. Faculty candidates are sought in Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Materials (SEMM), with emphasis on fundamental principles at the intersection of structural mechanics, materials and design in connection with advanced computing and experimental techniques. Faculty candidates are sought in the area of Geosystems Engineering, with emphases on sustainable urban geotechnics, remote sensing, information analysis or multi-scale numerical simulations of subsurface systems and related issues.

Broadly, we seek candidates whose work contributes to the School’s interdisciplinary, crosscutting research areas of smart cities, sustainable systems, healthy communities, and resilient infrastructure systems. Further, the School seeks to expand its research and teaching expertise in interdisciplinary areas that address global grand challenges. Preference will be given to candidates at the assistant professor level, but exceptional candidates in any area at the associate professor or professor levels will be considered. Candidates are expected to teach and mentor a diverse student body. Along with undergraduate and graduate teaching, each position requires a balance of research and service responsibilities. Candidates shall have either demonstrated or shown a clear potential for creative and independent research that would lead to a strong, extramurally funded research program and national and international recognition.
